School-aged students who struggle with literacy due to dyslexia and other learning disabilities can take advantage of screening and tutoring services offered by Sara Kwiatt, M.Ed., Meghan Barlow and Associates' Wilson Certified Dyslexia Practitioner. Sara uses The Wilson Reading System® (WRS), which is a structured literacy program based on phonological-coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles to systematically teach the structure of the English language.
How does The WRS help my child?
Through WRS, students learn fluent decoding and encoding skills to the level of mastery. From the beginning steps of the program, students receive instruction in:
- Phonemic awareness
- Decoding and word study
- Sight word recognition
- Oral expressive language development
