Supporting the Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Needs of Gifted Students – ESCLC Workshop

January 10 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

*Private Event

Presented by Dr. Meghan Barlow, this all day workshop will enhance participants’ understanding of the social and emotional needs of gifted students. A review of the ways in which students may be identified as gifted and the different ways that giftedness presents itself will be presented. As many educators know, gifted individuals are not always the “best” or “easiest” students in the classroom, despite their intelligence. We will discuss common classroom challenges including power struggles, frustration intolerance, anxiety, underachievement, uneven development, anxieties, and problems working with peers. Practical strategies for supporting these students, preventing classroom challenges, and managing behavioral problems will be presented. Participants will learn useful tools for working with their gifted students in a way that will benefit the teacher, classmates, and gifted individual.
